Labor Day Celebration - a real homecoming, beginning with Hose Fights on Genesee Street at 8 AM & continuing well into the night with fireworks. Sponsored by the Labor Day Picnic Association, this event began in 1919 as a celebration of the harvest. Come for a community picnic where the food is already prepared for your enjoyment. GGCC Annual Dinner & Citizen of the Year Presentation
The Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend the 2010 Annual Dinner Meeting and Citizen of the Year presentation. This year the Chamber will be honoring George Estey. The dinner will be on Saturday, May 1 at the Baron’s Inn.

A cash bar and social hour will begin at 6pm with a buffet dinner at 7pm. The cost per person is $30 with tax and gratuity included.

A Silent Auction will be held for lovely Gift Baskets.

A 50/50 Raffle will also be held.

Make your reservations today by mailing your check payable to GGCC, PO Box 441, Greene, NY 13778 or you may stop in at the Town Hall to sign up. Deadline for your reservations is April 23.

Edna Lake's Keep Greene Clean Day
All groups, organizations, families, and individuals are welcome. Keep Greene Clean Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th, 2010, 8:00 AM - NOON. Meet in front of the Sherwood Inn. Held rain or shine.

Memorial Day Parade - is jointly sponsored by the VFW & American Legion each year. Beginning at Moore Memorial Library on Genesee Street at 10 AM, it pauses at Memorial Park to place a wreath at the WWI veterans monument & to cast a wreath from the Genesee Street bridge into the Chenango River. The parade proceeds to the Sylvan Lawn Cemetery for a memorial ceremony. Participating are local dignitaries, the fire department, the Greene High School Band, Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts raise State flags to honor veterans from various states, and the honor guard fires a rifle salute. Annual Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce Captain & Crew Golf Tournament – an annual event sponsored by the Chamber and held the second Wednesday in June at the Genegantslet Golf Course. A great way for networking and fun; the day includes cash prizes, door prizes, a grill lunch, and a chicken BBQ served at the awards dinner. This year’s date – Wed. June 9, 2010 – call 656 -8225 for more info.

Annual Smithville Day - an old fashioned country gathering of craft vendors, watermelon eating contest, dunking booth, quilt show, historical display, petting zoo, refreshments, calligrapher, blacksmith, craft demonstrations in historical barn and a parade at 1 PM honoring the Town's oldest resident. Smithville Day 5K Run and Walk

This 5K run/walk kicks-off a day-long celebration in Smithville. Other activities include a parade, tractor-pull, craft show, flea market, doll show, quilt show, beauty pageant and chicken barbeque. This race is being offered by the Town of Smithville and our local volunteer fire department to contribute to a building-fund for a new fire station. For more information, visit their website

Annual Arts & Crafts Festival - sponsored by the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce for 25 years, this festival is always held on the 4th Saturday in July, rain or shine from 9 AM to 4 PM. More than 225 quality artisans exhibit their arts & crafts on the streets of Greene. Choose from an assortment of food offered by Greene area restaurants and local non-profit groups. This year's date is July 24th, 2010.

Applefest - sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Greene for over ten years, this fun, fall festival is always held the last Saturday in September on the ball flats, rain or shine from 9 AM to 5 PM. Features crafts, cider pressing, apple butter making, music & entertainment, fresh apples & cider, home-made pies, fall produce & family activities.

Rotary Golf Tournament - an annual event sponsored by Rotary and used as their major fund raiser for their community service projects. It is held in early September at the Genegantslet Golf Course. As well as being a fund raiser it is a great event.

Hometown Holiday Weekend - kicks off the holiday season during the 1st weekend in December. Sponsored by the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce, highlights include the tree lighting ceremony & caroling, free horse drawn wagon rides, open houses, breakfast with Santa, Historical Society's display & children's activities and Annual Christmas Show.
